Columbus Technical College will hold its spring commencement exercises at 7:00 p.m. at the Columbus Civic Center this Thursday, June 13. An estimated 330 students have met the qualifications needed to walk across the graduation stage.
Thursday’s ceremony marks the final graduation where President Lorette Hoover will serve as the leader of the institution. Hoover has been at the helm of Columbus Technical College since July 1, 2013, and with the Technical College System of Georgia for a total of 35 years. Her retirement will be effective June 30. In the six years Hoover served as President of Columbus Tech, the College experienced significant strides in many areas. These include boasting an average job placement rate of 99 percent, implementing several new programs of study, significantly expanding adult education services, growing the dual enrollment program for high school students, and many more.
Columbus Mayor Skip Henderson will serve as the keynote speaker for Thursday’s ceremony.
