How many hours of dual enrollment can a student take?

Students can enroll in one or more courses per term with a maximum number of 15 credit hours in any term. The total amount of dual enrollment funding available is for 30 credit hours.

Once a Dual Enrollment student reaches the 30 Hour Funding Cap, a student may:

Self-Pay for college courses at the standard in-state tuition rate for the college.
If the student is enrolled in an eligible HOPE Career Grant certificate or diploma program, they may qualify for HOPE Grant with Career Grant funding which allows you to gain early access to HOPE funds.  Unlike Dual Enrollment hours, credit hours paid by HOPE Grant will count towards the HOPE and/or Zell Miller Scholarship 127 Combined-Paid hours limit. See your dual enrollment coordinator for more information.

When can students take dual enrollment courses?

Typically, students are considered eligible in the summer term following 9th grade. Courses are available in summer, fall and spring terms both online and in-person. Public and private schools each have their own participation criteria that may include GPA, grade level, or course mode restrictions. Therefore, students from those schools must have prior approval by their high school guidance office to participate in dual enrollment.

Will these courses transfer to a university?

The Technical College System of Georgia (TSCG) currently has 38 courses that transfer directly to University System of Georgia (USG) as equivalent courses. Transfer Guarantee. For students attending other in-state schools, GATransfer.org provides a College Credit Course tool to search for credit transfer opportunities at participating colleges and universities within the state of Georgia. Students planning on attending college out of state after high school should keep a copy of the syllabus for each class they take to submit for transfer articulation at the future school.

What other opportunities are available for high school students to attend CTC?

The Accelerated Career Pathway may be a great option if you have a clearly defined career goal in mind.

In this program, students can earn both a high school diploma and one of the following:

An Associate of Applied Science Degree
A Technical Diploma
A program certification leading to licensure
Two approved Technical Certificates of Credit (TCCs) within the same program area, as outlined in the published guidelines.
