The former coordinator/instructor earned his doctorate in higher education executive leadership from Wingate University, his master of business administration in technology management from the University of Phoenix, and his bachelor of science in electrical engineering technology from South Carolina State University. In his pursuit of extending more opportunities for students, King served on various committees and advisory boards throughout his tenure in South Carolina Technical College System.
Getting to know his faculty and staff is first on Dr. King’s ‘to-do list.’ Next comes ensuring all programs in his area are as vital as possible and most importantly, helping students be successful. Retention of students through the completion of a credential and career placement after graduation are two of King’s major recurring goals in the education field.
“If the students aren’t successful, I feel like I haven’t done my job,” Dr. King said. “I love meeting them, talking to them, getting to know them and working with them so they can be successful in their chosen field. It’s my icing on the cake.”
Dr. King came by his more than 14 years in education naturally. His mother and aunt were both career educators.
Dr. Dahmon King is the father of five young men. Four are over 21 and the youngest is in eighth grade.
