Callie Rice of Fortson is a force to be reckoned with. The 18-year-old home school graduate and ninth out of ten children is a full time Columbus Technical College student and was recently named the 2018 Miss Georgia Collegiate America. While she was still being home schooled, Rice earned college credit in public speaking, music appreciation, and English through the dual enrollment program at Columbus Technical College. She found the school to be such a perfect fit that she is now in a health sciences path with hopes of starting the nursing program in spring of 2019.

“I just love helping people,” Rice said. “I really hope to work in labor and delivery because I especially love babies.”
After completing her degree in nursing at Columbus Technical College, Rice wants to continue her education by transferring her degree to Georgia Southern University where she will pursue her bachelor’s degree in nursing.
“Columbus Technical College has been great for me,” Rice said. “It’s just really convenient and affordable; the nursing program is really good and well-respected. I just love it here.”
Callie Rice’s talent on the pageant level is playing the piano but she is also active in her community and an avid volunteer. Rice spends time helping with accelerated reading programs, housing programs, Children’s Miracle Network fundraising events, the Literacy Alliance, and volunteering at church and Vacation Bible School.
The Miss Georgia Collegiate America is an official preliminary to the Miss Collegiate America Pageant. It will be held in Little Rock, Arkansas in June with prizes ranging from a $10,000 cash scholarship to other full scholarships, trips, and more.
Congratulations Callie and best of luck to you this June!
